Over the past year, the Fire Protection Research Foundation has undertaken a variety of projects relating to fire alarm and detection topics, sprinkler protection, fire fighter health and safety, and other life safety issues.  Amanda Kimball, Project Manager for the Foundation, will provide an update on the outcome of several completed projects, highlight several current research studies, and discuss future research activities including the Foundation's strategic research agenda.

Casey Grant, Research Director for the Foundation, will describe a current project on the "Smart Fire Fighter of the Future", which involves developing a research roadmap to establish the scientific and technical basis for achieving the vision for "Smart Fire Fighting" in the US.  The vision for smart firefighting of the future is based on creating, storing, exchanging, analyzing, and integrating information from a wide range of databases and sensor networks.
