Virtual Reality in Building Design and Construction

We are pleased to host our return of in-person dinner events for the first meeting of 2022-2023 chapter year in joint sponsorship with the New England Chapter of the Automatic Fire Alarm Association (AFAA).  

The program will be delivered by the following presenters:  

• Joe Watson, PE, Jensen Hughes
• Tom Perry, Shawmut Design and Construction
• Representatives from the Providence Fire Department Fire Prevention Bureau

As design and construction methods continue to become more technologically advanced, the need to share these resources with the code enforcement agencies grows. Designers and contractors are leveraging the benefits of the virtual world to assist with the design, coordination, planning and execution of construction projects. Design decisions are being made in the virtual world where the team can immerse themselves in the proposed construction. There are major benefits of bringing the Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) responsible for code enforcement into the virtual world from a better understanding of what is shown on the plans to preparing for an emergency response. Join us as we discuss some of the tools currently available in the construction industry and how they have been used on construction projects with a local AHJ.
