Our February meeting will detail the changes to the 2010 edition of NFPA 13D and outline the NFPA strategies and programs in support of and defense of the residential sprinkler legislative initiatives.

The program will be presented by James D. Lake is a Senior Fire Protection Specialist and a member of the Fire Protection Systems Engineering Department at NFPA.  He has over 20 years experience in fire protection including code enforcement, fire sprinkler industry representation and codes and standards administration.  He is currently responsible for working with the NFPA Technical Committee on Automatic Sprinklers, responsible for writing NFPA 13, 13D, 13R and NFPA 24 and 291 as well as the Technical Committee on Inspection, Testing and Maintenance of Water-Based Systems responsible for NFPA 25, and the Technical Committee on Water Mist Fire Suppression Systems responsible for NFPA 750.

He has authored numerous articles and technical papers on fire protection and NFPA standards and developed and delivered technical presentations and training on fire protection to large and small groups throughout the United States and around the world.  He is also the editor of the upcoming 2010 editions of the Automatic Sprinkler Handbook and the Residential Sprinkler Handbook.

Jim holds a Bachelors Degree in Fire Prevention Administration and a Masters Degree in Education.
