The New England Chapter of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers solicits financial support from corporate sponsors to assist with the costs of the chapter’s annual golf outing, annual seminar, and monthly dinner meetings. All proceeds from these events support the A.L. Brown Scholarship fund, which provides financial assistance to students working towards degrees in Fire Protection Engineering. The support of corporate sponsors compensates for a portion of the costs of running these events, maximizing the financial aid the chapter is able to provide to students. This October, a total of $20,000 will be distributed to six scholarship recipients.
Since 2009, the chapter has hosted an annual Golf Outing in September. The outing has continued to grow. Last year, nearly 100 golfers participated in the event, the largest total in the event's history.
Our signature event and primary fundraiser for the A.L. Brown Scholarship is our Annual Seminar, which is held every March. The seminar has been attended loyally by 70 to 95 people with the following experience fire alarm installers, owners, engineers, fire departments, and building officials. This past year, $12,000 was raised during the seminar.
Corporate sponsors also provide funding so that student members can attend our monthly dinner meetings at no charge. This allows the students an opportunity to become involved with the Chapter and network with others in the fire protection community.
Our corporate sponsorship program allows our sponsors to provide financial support throughout the chapter year (June 1st to May 31st), and we offer four tiers of sponsorship. Some levels include registrations at the golf outing and seminar, in addition to the opportunity to advertise and exhibit at these events. We also offer individual sponsorships for those companies that are interested in supporting individual events.
This year, our Corporate Sponsorship program will be different than in years past. Because we will not be hosting our normal events such as our golf tournament and monthly in-person dinner meetings, we will be modifying the Corporate Sponsorship tiers.
