NFPA 13, Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systemsprovides standard area / density curves as guidance to determine the sprinkler system water discharge demand. This presentation will cover the origin and history of the area / water density curves within NFPA 13 and the implications of these curves for automatic sprinkler system design.

Highrise Buildings: Where are the Codes Headed? Presented by Milosh Puchovsky, NFPA and Beth Tubbs, ICC

In the wake of the World Trade Center attacks and other recent highrise building fires, there have been a number of activities related to highrise buildings undertaken in both the NFPA and ICC organizations – NFPA initiated the High Rise Building Safety Advisory Committee; ICC initiated the ad-hoc Committee on Terror Resistant Buildings, as well as initiated specific highrise agenda items for the ICC Code Technology Committee. This presentation will focus on the activities within both organizations that relate to these high-rise buildings activities.
