Since 1955, The New England Chapter of SFPE has provided a means of information exchange and a mechanism for education on various topics related to fire and life safety. Discussion about basic code requirements to the application of sophisticated computer models are all relevant to modern fire safety design. The Chapter accomplishes its objectives by holding monthly dinner meetings, offering seminars, and sponsoring the A.L. Brown Scholarship. All of the chapter’s revenue in excess of expenses support the A.L. Brown Scholarships. The A.L. Brown Scholarships are awarded each year to fire protection engineering students from New England or who are matriculating in fire protection engineering at one of the ABET accredited schools in New England. Annual Scholarship awards in the past years have been as high as $29,000.00.
